5HA Privacy Policy

5HA's Approach to Privacy

5HA is a browser-based file hash calculator where all computation runs locally inside your web browser. 5HA's privacy model is a direct consequence of 5HA's architecture: your file data physically remains within your browser tab from the moment you drop a file to the moment you read the resulting hash values.

Zero Personal Data Collection

5HA (5ha.net) collects zero personal data. 5HA requires zero accounts, zero registration, and zero login. 5HA asks for zero personal information at any point. Every visitor uses 5HA with complete anonymity.

When you use 5HA Your Files Stay on Your Device

When you hash files through 5HA, all computation takes place inside your browser's JavaScript engine and WebAssembly runtime on your own device. File data remains within your browser tab throughout the entire hash computation. File data stays on your device during every operation, because 5HA's server has no endpoint, no infrastructure, and no mechanism designed to receive file data from your browser.

You can verify 5HA's local-processing architecture at any time by monitoring your browser's network activity through your browser's developer tools while hashing a file. The network tab displays zero file data transmission during the entire operation.

What 5HA Stores and Where

5HA saves two categories of preferences to your browser's local storage on your own device. Local storage is a browser-native feature that keeps data entirely on your device, separate from any network communication.

The first category is your algorithm selection. When you enable or disable hash algorithms through 5HA's algorithm selector, your preferences save to local storage so that the same algorithms appear active on your next visit.

The second category is your theme preference. When you choose between 5HA's light and dark themes, your selection saves to local storage so that the same theme loads on your next visit.

Both values reside exclusively within your browser on your own device. Your 5HA preferences stored in one browser remain in that browser. Preferences are absent from other browsers, other devices, and all 5HA server systems. Clearing your browser's local storage removes all stored 5HA preferences from that browser.

Cookies, Tracking, and Analytics

Your browsing session with 5HA involves zero cookies, zero tracking scripts, zero tracking pixels, zero advertising tags, and zero behavioral profiling. 5HA operates without any visitor monitoring or data collection mechanism of any kind.

How Hash Computation Works Locally

All hash computation within 5HA runs locally inside your browser through client-side JavaScript and WebAssembly. When you select algorithms and drop a file, your browser reads the file in four-megabyte chunks from your local storage, passes each chunk through the selected hash algorithms running in your browser's memory, and produces hexadecimal hash strings as output. Your file data, intermediate computation states, and final hash values all remain within your browser tab throughout the process.

When you use the copy button to place a hash value onto your clipboard, 5HA writes the hash string to your device's clipboard using the browser's Clipboard API. This operation completes entirely within your browser.

Third-Party Resources

5HA loads certain resources from third-party content delivery networks, including the hash-wasm WebAssembly library, interface frameworks, and font files. When your browser retrieves these resources, the hosting servers receive standard connection information as part of each request. Third-party content delivery providers operate under their own respective privacy policies. Loading resources from content delivery networks is standard practice across the web.

Server Logs

5HA's web servers record certain technical details during standard operation, including the IP address of the requesting device, the requested URL path, the timestamp of the request, and the browser type. Server logs contain technical request data only. Your file contents, filenames, file sizes, algorithm selections, hash computation activity, and computed hash values are entirely client-side and entirely absent from server logs.

Internet Infrastructure

Visiting any website involves standard internet routing. Your internet service provider, DNS resolver, and network infrastructure operators can observe that a connection was made to 5ha.net. This applies to every website on the internet and falls outside 5HA's control. 5HA uses encrypted HTTPS connections, which protect the content of data transfers between your browser and 5HA's server.

Changes to This Policy

If 5HA updates this privacy policy, the revised version will appear at this same address.
